They are good with sugar, milk, shakes, alone ... My fruit of this season!

At the Wadi Rum desert

Image
In black and white it's not so impressive, but in red and yellow it looks really amazing. Jordan's most famous dessert :)

Julia Kay for JKPP

Image
This is not technically a portrait, but Julia got it in her thread, so I guess it's all right. Plus I get to draw martial arts :)

The sisters in the north

Image
Winter is coming! I just did this last weekend for Redcandle17 's competition in DeviantArt "Sisterhood" and, yay!, I just won! Isn't drawing just that cool? Arya and Sansa Stark at the beginning of A Game of Thrones :)

Catacombs of Saint Callisto

Image
In the outskirts of Rome, in Antiqua Via Appia (you can get there via the 20 bus from San Giovanni Latterano, I think) you can find the large catacombs of Saint Callisto. One of the things not to miss in Rome!

Left 4 dead II deathmatch!

Image
Sooo ... Rocio and I spent the best hours of a perfectly sunny weekend killing zombies inside a house and all we had to show for it was a headache and the leftovers of a perfectly useless plan on an actual drawing board :P But just you wait, zombies, we'll get ya sooner or later.

Driving in Atacama desert

Image
After a few days in a Pacific island, driving in the desert is a nice change, but it can get thirsty, specially if you have grown a fondness for natural fruit juices. For that reason, after staying for the night in the middle of nowhere and waking up to the dusty wind of Atacama desert only to find coffee and toasts, I tried my luck and asked for a juice. The guy commented, "nope, for juices, you need to go to the oasis", and I was like, "sure, and to find the Eiffel Tower, I need to go to Paris :P". "No, lass, to THAT oasis over there!" And, certainly, there was a green spot in the desert that we visited just to drink juices. Hooray!! Definitely, one of the hotspots in my desert trip. I drank at least two pints before we left. Replenished deposit :D

Pandemic

Image
Another friday night playing board games (must be getting old). This time we played Alhambra and, for the sake of team building, a cooperative game: Pandemic. Pandemic focus on fighting four different viral diseases that are spreading all over the world. Players get a role, so they can be specialized in a specific skill, and they've got to move around, healing population and, at the same time, trying to find the cure for each virus. Initially, the game seems pretty easy, but after losing 4 or 5 games in a row, one realizes that complexity grows exponentially as turns increase and, all in all, it requires good strategy and a fair amount of luck to actually succeed. I really like this game :)

A couple of portraits for JKPP

Image
Inma Serranito told me about this cool group, Julia Kay's Portrait Party , where people post their photos and can make portraits of anyone in the group in exchange. She said this was addictive, and, boy, was she right! I'm not that good at portraits myself, but a girl's gotta practise, so here are my first two pieces :D

Jeek Kune Do beneficient workshop

Image
My JKD instructor Pedro organized a beneficent workshop of JKD/Eskrima for kids with cancer this weekend and I decided to practice my speed sketching skills there

Freaky-weekend I: Arkham Horror

Image
Last weekend, we rented a cottage in the middle of nowhere and moved there for three days with lots of (unhealthy) food, a projector, a HDD full of zombie movies, the XBox with every complement we could grab -Kinect included- and a mountain of board games. I carried my notebook and took several quick sketches of many moments there, so I'll be posting them these days. First, a game of Arkham Horror , set in Lovecraft's creepy universe. It takes a long time to complete one of this games, but it is real fun :) First, the game box: Now, one of the players at her turn (she might disagree, because it is not a good portrait, but she kept moving, and it took 5 minutes, so ...) Some locations at Arkham (on the back of the cards) And one of the gateway locations (where I ended first), the Dreamlands. I used watercolors in a couple of sketches and a few Tombow markers in the rest.

More Madrid (yesterday)

Image
I had a one day work trip to Madrid yesterday and I managed to sketch Atocha AVE station and the monastery of Las Descalzas, close to Gran Via. I even got luck and yesterday they had open visit. Really amazing inside!
