Lord Eddard Stark

Image
Done with A Game of Thrones, on with A Clash of Kings. Meanwhile, you get these doodles. Today, Lord Eddard Stark, Hand of King Robert! A 5 minutes one and another with a casting call in mind (this goes way before the TV series)

Anime sketch ... the european way

Image
This is a sketch of Bleach character Soi Fong, taichou of the second squad. I like how she fights, mostly using martial arts rather than those large, large zampakutous. However, I went for something different: first, I drew her the european style ... and then, I had her smiling -totally out of character-

Little Luci

This is my other niece (Clara's baby sister) just being herself :)

Konnichi wa!

Image
I've seen in the stats that there seems to be a number of returning visitors here from Japan, so here is a watercolor based on a traditional painting of the country for you, guys! Dōmo arigatō gozaimasu

Amalfi in the coast of Italy

Image
Watercolor and ink sketches of the same view from Amalfi, a gorgeous little village in the south of Naples. The ink one was done in Amalfi's own famous paper. Also, they produce the best meloncello and limoncello in the country :)

Don't you just love horses? Shadowfax!!

Image
This one I made for an Internet friend who was very much into LotR and just loved horses. She also did amazing portraits of LotR characters! I sent the original by snail mail to her, also :) Watercolor, as usual

A game of thrones: Arya Stark

Image
After my quick Arya sketch, I went to detail this weekend. This is a worked version of Arya in the first book, based on my 8-years old niece Clara. My kid is not much of a fighter or adventurer, she rather likes reading and drawing, but she was the correct age and looks good with a sword. By the way, Clara is afraid of dogs, so I don't think she would be much into wolves. Anyway ... :)

Second part of the Cazorla trip

Image
First, we got lost in a small road, but found people (too) willing to assist ...   Finally, we found out that carrying just one CD on a long trip is not a good idea. Specially if it is Amaral :P But, hey, we managed to do some rafting!

And this was last year trip to Cazorla ...

Image
I did these during a short trip to the mountains last year with some friends. Things were ... interesting, as usual. First, Ana -the only one of us who cooks really well, offered herself to be in charge of the food...  Then, we just went to the market and tried to follow her list very, very literally ...

Winter is coming!

Image
I'm reading right now a Game of Thrones, so I just thought I could do very quick drafts of the characters (5-10 minutes each). Meet Arya Stark :) And here is a slightly more complex skecth of Jon I posted a long time ago.

Eowyn and Aragorn on their way to Helm's Gap

Image
This is a very, very fast sketch I did back during TTT, I preferred Eowyn to Arwen (sorry, Arwen's fans :P), and I really missed the Glittering Caves scene. This one was fun, though.

Alas, the king!

Image
Weeeell, I like him more as strider, but Aragorn is Aragorn with or without the crown :)

Creepy, creepy wraiths

Image
I guess these guys are a cool option to try inks and watercolor effects. I just drop a bit of water on the background and pressed a cloth against it to get the clouds.

Hail to the king!

Image
Yup, after Photoshop, it is ink and watercolor time! I just copied this one from master Frank Cho, but, hey, that's how you learn :P

The devourer of suns

Image
I rather prefer Dark Phoenix from the comics than from X Men last stand. Famke Janssen is good, but the script lacks that cosmic thing I liked so much. So, let's put both things together ... step by step.   First things first, I need a drawing that looks like Famke Janssen's Phoenix. At least a bit, I hope. I did this in Photoshop and then passed it through Illustrator to filter my shaky pulse :P   Now I give flat colors to the BW sketch. Mostly red, you see :)   Now, for a bit of depth, shadow and light layers above the colored thing We need a nice, cosmic nebula, so I just used a radial gradient from orange to black and a Clouds layer in Overlay mode to get this. I removed the borders to blend them into the background also. An Phoenix is all about fire, you see? I just adapted the well known tutorial about how to write letters on fire to a white mask of Jean's contour. It's not as flashy as text, but it does the trick. Of course, the sun devourer needs a supernova, so

Shoot 'em up!

Back to dear ol' tablet and killing zombies all around! Alice rulz! My digital painting, not so much

Death and Mucha

A favorite painter of mine and one of the nicest characters in comicbooks all together:

Lara Croft, Tomb Raider movie

Image
I can't say I liked the first movie (the second one being a totally different issue), but, hey, Angelina Jolie fits the role quite well :P

My mean ol' capt'n ...

Image

Is it a bird? Is it a plane?

Image
Nope! It's Clark Kent in tights! Specially drawn for my cousin Blanca ;)
